In 1902, Frederick Viney, 11, arrived at Boston, Massachusetts, USA, along with a group of about 400 Barnardo children accompanied by Mrs. Clara Davie, Mr. Edward Clark and Mr. George Henry Thompson, and en route to Toronto and Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. (Frederick's brother, Joseph Viney, arrived in 1901 on the Tunisian with Barnardos.)

In 1911, Fred Viney (age not stated), who worked on the railroad, was shown as a roomer in the home of Miss L(?) Smith at 827 Keefer, Vancouver City, British Columbia, Canada. No date of birth or immigration year was given.

He married Palma Juliet Wagnild about 1915. Palma died in 1934 in Saskatchewan. Fred and Palma had two children: Frederick Harold Viney, born 1922; and Grace Olive Josephine Viney, born 1917.

Frederick then married Kathleen Minor about 1935.

Frederick Thomas Viney died in 1960 in Saskatchewan. He is buried along with his first wife, Palma Juliet Viney (1895-1934) in Abbey Community Cemetery, Saskatchewan, Canada. Also buried in Abbey Community Cemetery is his son, Frederick Harold Viney (1922-1943), Flying Officer with the 405 Squadron Royal Canadian Air Force who died August 16, 1943 while serving in World War II. He is also commemorated in Runnymede Memorial, Surrey, United Kingdom.
